An Integrated Modular Course for Business English

Welcome to Sailing Across Web site! First of all, a word of warning! You won't find here any material printed in the hard copy of Sailing Across. You will find material that was either unsuitable for printing or too bulky, or dealing with side issues. You will also find information that is best suited for the Web. That's why not all modules are active at the moment nor are all the units inside them. You will find spare activities, (reading, listening, speaking, writing, role-play etc.), project work, extra reading material, forms and documents for further practice or background knowledge. Sometimes you will find complete spare Units, which have more or less the same structure as those in the hard copy textbook. Inside each module there is also a lexicon with definitions and/or explanations of a selected choice of words and terms related to the module specific field. The words from all modules are also grouped together in a general lexicon that you can access from the homepage.   What use can you make of material ? You can download single files into you computer and either store or print them for further work. If you wish, you can also do some of the activities online, whenever you find a blank key field. Do not expect any answer keys though, they are not provided at this stage. The activities are only meant for further practice, not for self check. The site can also be used as a reference source. In fact for each module you will find a sitography, that is, a list of relevant Web sites with a brief explanation of what you will find in each of them. You will also find a general sitography in the homepage. One more thing. If you wish to drop in your comments, or get in touch, you may send an e-mail to the author at ciaffaroni@hotmail.com, or to Zanichelli at lineauno@bo.zanichelli.it.   Instructions on how to download single files and mp3 files. Click on the file you wish to download. First save it on your hard disk then open it using the right application. If the file has .doc extension use Microsoft Word, if the file has .jpg or .gif extensions use Adobe Photoshop or any other imaging viewer. All listening files in the site are mp3 file . First click on the file you wish to listen to and save it on your hard disk, then open it with an mp3 player, such as RealPlayer or other such like programs you can download from the Net. You may look for audio programs using a search engine such as Virgilio, where you will find further information on mp3 file.
