WRITING

  1. Refer to activity n. 4 p.11 and translate your tour in English for foreign tourists.
  2. Refer to activity 3 p. 29 and choose one of the Syrian attractions you quoted. Write an English description of this landmark to be included in a tourist brochure: stress its historical and cultural importance and use an appropriate vocabulary to make the description appealing to potential tourists.
  3. Refer to activity 5 p. 35. Pretend your English penfriend is studying biology at University and is interested in rare plants. Write an e-mail to invite him to spend one week in the Dominican Republic with you, participating to the tour you have just described.
  4. Refer to activiy 1 p. 41. Write a letter to a friend living in the USA who has never heard about Dancalia and summarize what you have found out about this region.
  5. Refer to activiy n.2 p. 49. London is one of the capitals of Indian cuisine thanks to its numerous Indian immigrants. Browse the net to find an Indian restaurant in London and compare its menu with the characteristics of Indian cuisine you have just described.
  6. Refer to activity n.4 p. 55. Send an email to an English speaking friend inviting him or her to a Sahara tour with you.

CONVERSATION

Work in pairs or small groups. Refer to the box on p.5 and discuss all the elements in the list, comparing your opinions on what you consider most important when choosing a destination for your holidays. Finally try to agree on the three elements that you would favour if you opened a travel agency together.
